For the Love of Art

Friday the 26th at 1 p.m., step into history, art, and celebration with “For the Love of Art”, a lively guided mini-tour that traces the story of the HGG and showcases the spirit of our creative community.

The walking tour starts at the gallery’s original site on Main and Kildare (now the Food Bank). From there, participants will wind through the village, stopping at significant sites where local art and music bring the past to life. Highlights include a peek into the charming garden that inspired the gallery’s name, the colorful outdoor gallery of Judy Wapp and David Everest, and Greer Park, where Toru Fujibayashi’s magnificent sculpture Inner Chi still inspires.

The walk ends at today’s HGG, where refreshments, a history corner, Patrizia Menton’s photos for sale, silent art auction previews, and a warm welcome await. Founding board member Janna Schellenberg will share stories of the gallery’s beginnings, and everyone is
encouraged to add their own memories to this joyful community celebration.

Celebrations culminate on the 27th; get ready to boogie and take home one of Patrizia’s photos or an original piece of art from the auction. Dance to the groovy fusion sounds of five-piece band Truckvancar out of Rossland, B.C., who play original and cover tunes.

Thank you for your support!

It was love at first sight.

“I remember what I was wearing, the taste of the chocolate from the snack table, and the little cup of wine I was served.

Yes, they served wine way back then. The beautiful art and the very cool, big open doors, letting so much light into the barn like structure. I remember a beautiful white haired woman coming up and greeting me, complimenting my dress, welcoming me to the Hidden Garden Gallery, to New Denver. It was the summer of 2018, and what an amazing evening this was. There was a crowd at the Gallery and a special treat around the corner, the Japanese drummers were playing in Bosun Hall. My first taste of a Hidden Garden Gallery reception and the beginning of an enduring loving relationship.

Soon after, my now friend Susan Dunnigan, invited me to join the Board. Here I am, one of many, volunteering for The Hidden Garden Gallery. It has opened my world to beautiful art and the privilege of getting to know interesting people. I am working closely with that beautiful white haired woman, Terry Freeman, and Randy Coffer gathering “Love Letters, notes of appreciations, memories and memorabilia celebrating the Hidden Garden Gallery’s 25th Anniversary.”

By Celebrating 25 years of existence, it is our intent to honour the people, past and present, whom have been a big part of making The Hidden Garden Gallery so special and so loved. We need your help. Please, take a moment and reflect; talk with friends, go through your archives or in my case, boxes filled with this or that. Find those old pictures, posters, anything relating to 25 years of the Hidden Garden Gallery.”

With Love
