All ages and abilities are welcome!
This workshop is designed to get you outside and paint and then meet at the gallery at 2:30 – 3:00 pm daily to hang your work for the weekend show. The work will only be available for viewing during Saturday and Sunday, August, 16 and 17 from 10 am – 3 pm. We will have a reception on Saturday evening to celebrate our work.
Each day is not led by a teacher, but you are welcome to join other artists at each suggested location and learn new things from each other, or go out on your own and create a work of art in whatever medium you prefer.
Every day we will meet at a new location that will be listed in the following schedule. We will meet at noon and paint and create until 2 pm!
If you can, please supply your own materials. We will have some basic supplies for those who don’t have their art supplies handy.
Plein Air painting is about expressing your impression in a simplified manner in a short amount of time (because the lighting is constantly changing). This process is about engaging with your subject on a more intimate level by learning from painting from real life and immersing yourself in the landscape.
Monday, Aug 11, Noon – 2 pm – Meet at the Kohan Garden – Paint or draw views from the garden area. Meet at the gallery between 2:30 – 3:00 to hang your piece.
Tuesday, Aug 12, Noon – 2 pm – Meet at the Parking lot at Bigalow Bay Beach – Paint or draw views from the beach area. Meet at the gallery between 2:30 – 3:00 to hang your piece.
Wednesday, Aug 13, Noon – 2 pm – Meet at the Parking lot at Silverton Day Park located off 4th Street in Silverton – Paint or draw views from the beach area. Meet at the gallery between 2:30 – 3:00 to hang your piece.
Thursday, Aug 14, Noon – 2 pm – Meet at the Parking lot at Rosebery parking area on Rosebery Loop Road – Paint or draw views from the beach area. Meet at the gallery between 2:30 – 3:00 to hang your piece.
Friday, Aug 15, Noon – 2 pm – Meet at the end of Main street in New Denver at the sculpture on the lake – Paint or draw views from the Main Street. Meet at the gallery between 2:30 – 3:00 to hang your piece.
Saturday, Aug 16 – Gallery will be open for viewing from 10 am – 3 pm. We will have a reception from 7 – 9 pm with music by Kate Smyles.
Sunday, Aug 17 – Gallery will be open for viewing from 10 am – 3 pm.
